Virginia Beach Seeks Public Input on Housing Needs for Study
In-Person and Virtual Public Meetings Scheduled
Housing & Neighborhood Preservation is collaborating with the Virginia Center for Housing Research (VCHR) at Virginia Tech to conduct a housing study for Virginia Beach. The public is invited to learn about the study and provide input on housing-related needs and issues within the city at one of the following meetings:
In-Person Meetings
- Monday, Jan. 30, at 6 p.m. at Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art, 2200 Parks Ave.
- Thursday, Feb. 2, at 6 p.m., at Tallwood High School, 1668 Kempsville Road
- Monday, Feb. 6, at 6 p.m., at Green Run High School, 1700 Dahlia Drive
- Thursday, Feb. 9, at 6 p.m., at Princess Anne Community Recreation Center, 1400 Nimmo Parkway
- Monday, Feb. 13, at 6 p.m. at Old Donation School, 4633 Honeygrove Road
- Thursday, Feb. 16, at 1 p.m., at Virginia Beach EMS, 4160 Virginia Beach Blvd.
Virtual Meetings Via Zoom
The meetings will include an overview of the housing study and small group discussions where attendees can share what they like or would change about where they live, housing-related challenges or problems they experience or observe, what resources would address these issues and what “affordable housing” means to them.

In November 2022, the City Council approved an ordinance to fund an updated housing study and report, which was previously completed in 2016. The study will include VCHR’s analysis of the current housing market and the identification of strategies to address the housing needs in Virginia Beach.
