VB Home Now Foundation Accepting Grant Proposals for Programs to Prevent and End Homelessness in Virginia Beach

VB Home Now is accepting grant proposals from organizations that assist families and individuals experiencing homelessness or a housing crisis in Virginia Beach. The foundation is looking for impactful projects for calendar year 2023 that contribute to the Virginia Beach homeless service system and will prioritize funding requests that provide resources, create partnerships, and address gaps within the community that directly impact the homeless and those at risk of becoming homeless.

The application package can be found at www.vbhomenow.org. Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31.

VB Home Now is a nonprofit foundation that supports and enhances the community system of services, programs, and facilities to make homelessness rare, brief and nonrecurring in Virginia Beach. Since its inception in 2016, the foundation has received more than $1.5 million from generous supporters in the community to support the work of the Virginia Beach homeless service system and at the Housing Resource Center.

This year, the foundation has committed more than $160,000 towards programs and services that support families and individuals in need, including weekend meals for Virginia Beach City Public School students; utility, transportation, and security deposit assistance for formerly homeless individuals; and short-term financial assistance to prevent homelessness. With VB Home Now's support, the city also launched an arts employment program for homeless and formerly homeless individuals and created incentives for landlords to partner with affordable housing programs.
