Help VB Home Now “Pack the Box” on Nov. 19 to Support Families and Individuals Experiencing Homelessness

Community Donation Drive to Be Held at Housing Resource Center

VB Home Now foundation, in partnership with Virginia Beach Housing and Neighborhood Preservation, invites the community to "Pack the Box" with items to support homeless and recently housed families and individuals on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 10 a.m. to noon. The goal of the community donation drive is to fill the Housing Resource Center (HRC) shipping containers with items that unsheltered individuals will need during the winter and help others moving from homelessness to housing settle into their own place. Donations can be dropped off during the event in the parking lot of the HRC, 104 N. Witchduck Road.

Most needed items (in new condition) include:

  • $5 restaurant gift cards
  • HRT bus passes
  • Air mattresses
  • Blankets
  • Hats
  • Gloves
  • Thermal underwear
  • Ponchos
  • Diapers
  • Hand warmers
  • Laundry detergent (HE liquid)
  • Backpacks

Move-in kits with bedding, bath and kitchen supplies with new, full-sized items are also needed. Complete kits are most helpful, but any quantity of items is appreciated.
